LA 아트북페어 This strongThursday through Sunday/strong, connect with artists’ book publishers and browse new works at this four-day fair coming to the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA over the second weekend of August. Expect conversations, workshops, performances, and other artist-led programs, including an opening night performance by Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra & Friends. Opening night tickets are $25, strongFriday and Saturday /strongare $5 admission, and strongSunday/strong is free. More info here./p>

Hollywood Jane Revue brings a cartoon-themed burlesque to Federal Bar in NoHo this strongThursday/strong, featuring dancers performing as their favorite animated characters. Show starts at 8:30 p.m., tickets are $15-$20. More info here./p>

This August, The South Coast Botanic Garden welcomes guests to their weekly after-hours series every strongThursday/strong from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Programming for each event includes multiple music sessions, yard games, food concessions, kid-friendly activities, and cocktails for the 21+ crowd. Every strongThursday/strong in August The Autry museum hosts some of L.A.’s best salsa and Latin fusion bands with free salsa lessons, access to the museum galleries and a separate children’s dance floor. Admission cost $20 per person. More info here./p>

A lineup of notables from the West Coast jazz scene are headed to The Hammer courtyard for three concerts this August as part of the museum’s JazzPOP series. The annual free music series at Skirball Cultural Center continues this strongThursday/strong with a performance by Gambian singer and instrumentalist Sona Jobarteh. Admission is free, but remember parking runs $15-$20 depending on if you purchase in advance. More info here. /p>

This strongFriday/strong, USC Pacific Asia Museum debuts their latest exhibit, Imprinting in Time: Chinese Printmaking at the Beginning of a New Era. On view through November 12, 2023, the collection of works on display survey printmaking by Chinese artists from the 1980s to the present organized into three sections: the Modern Woodcut Movement, the Post Mao Era, and Crisis and Hope Since the 1990s. Free evening dance parties continue at The Music Center’s Jerry Moss Plaza every strongFriday/strong throughout the summer. Dance instructors will be on hand to teach guests easy-to-follow steps, allowing everyone to get into the groove right from the jump. LA Plaza’s summer concert series continues this strongFriday/strong with Son Mirón Orchestra, a group made up of musicians from all over Latin America. Expect traditional romantic and modern salsa music to dance the night away to. Free admission. More info here./p>

The Pasadena Playhouse and Playhouse Village Foundation team up to host a free screening La La Land on the lawn at Playhouse Village Park this Friday. Starts around 8 p.m. Blankets and picnicking encouraged. More info here./p>

My Valley Pass and Westfield Fashion Square are offering another season of outdoor film screenings featuring cozy bean bag seating, sweet views, and a lineup of new and classic films. Movies On The Roof runs every strongFriday/strong and strongSaturday/strong through the end of August, and tickets are $10, with 100% of the proceeds to benefit Hope Of The Valley. Hotville Chicken’s Kim Price is bringing Nashville hot chicken to Tallula’s beachfront restaurant every Monday, all month long. Guests can indulge in a number of fiery creations including Hot Fried Chicken and Fish, “The Shaw” Chicken Sandwich, and sides like Mac & Smokin’ Cheese. Tallula’s team will also be shaking up cocktails for that needed cool down. Reservations can be made via Tallula’s on Resy and walk-ins are welcomed in the outdoor Beer Garden. /p>

Join Camphor in celebrating the retention of their recent Michelin Star with the launch of Steak Frites Night, taking place every second Wednesday of the month. This week, stop by on August 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. when Camphor will trade in its regular menu to exclusively serve the traditional Persian favorite: an 8oz steak, accompanied by frites and a salad, all for the price of $65. Celebrate summer in Venice Beach with Aprés Summer Cocktails by Mount Gay Rum, the world’s oldest running rum distillery dating back to 1703.
